Baguio Taxi drivers and 'tinderas'

If only all Filipinos will be like the taxi drivers of baguio. I have met some of the most honest and hardworking people in baguio. A taxi driver that is willing to take you anywhere, near or far, without any hesitations. A taxi where you can feel safe even in the wee hours in the morning. A taxi driver that will give you the exact change even to the last cent. And on my last visit, i was able to encounter taxi drivers that doesn't have 0.50 will give you 1.00 peso instead. And when you give them even just 5 pesos extra, they will even have a smiling face as they say 'thank you'.

FREE HUG

I have never been a Youtube fan and have never created an account in that website... until now...

Before I saw this clip in Oprah, I didn't know that Juan Mann existed, and that there is such a man with a good heart, willing to extend his arms, to give a stranger a hug. Simple, a silent act, but powerful enough, to place a smile in one's face and warmth to one's heart.

A FREE HUG ... who is willing to give one in return?

Wregent Plaza Hotel in Bohol

When we went to Bohol, it was the Sandugo festival, so most of the hotels are fully booked and we have no choice but to stay in this hotel because this is the street where the parade will pass by.

I have called up this hotel several times before our arrival confirming of the room and pick up from the airport. I even called them up a day before we arrive in bohol, so i was confident enough that they will be there to fetch us.

Good thing, we have coordinated with the tourism office of our visit there. They decided to welcome us in the airport and to assist us to find the van that will fetch us. To our surprise, the hotel van never arrived in the airport! Their reason: the van has to go somewhere important. How crazy is that? I think the management lacks coordination with his staff or its just that the management sucks! big time!

Attending a bridal expo

Sometimes life can be so cruel. Of all the events that I can cover for Daigdig Pinoy, it has to be a wedding event pa! I don't have anything against marriages and weddings, don't get me wrong, I really want to settle down, but i cannot force fate to be on my side all the time.

At first, I was really hesistant to be part of that event. I will be looking at events places, caterers, hotels, photographers, wedding singers, wedding cakes and most of all, wedding gowns that I could never wear! Why? have you ever looked at the manequins they used? Sure, it will look good at the manequin and petite sizes, but imagine it blowing up to fit me! haha!

I was able to meet fabulous people (but still there are some na parang pasan nila ang daigdig at ayaw nilang ngumiti o kausapin ka man lang ng maayos), and be able to meet old friends as well.

The reason i do not want to go to that event in the first place is because, i have been planning for my wedding for years now and still it didnt materialize. Of course, i need a decent guy to go with it. It's really frustrating and sometimes dissapointing.

I saw an old couple looking at brochures in the expo, then i realized, that weddings are not merely events, these are special moments in your life, the moment and time you want the whole world to know - that you loved.

Marriage is something worth waiting for, something to look forward to, and something to prepare for. No matter what other people say, I will take my time, for it is my happiness that is at stake, and that's what matters most.

Boracay Adventure April 2007

The first time i stepped in Boracay Island in Aklan Philippines was when i was about 12 years old. Together with my mom and some of her friends. I remember how clean the island was. How cheap the food and fruit shakes. How peaceful and quite it has been. But i can never forget the topless woman who ran to the water with us. I am not sure if she was mexican but she sure has a great body. We spent a few days there until my skin color has turned to black, not red, not tan, black. I was a child, all i did was soak in the sun and the beach all day long.

Year after year i have been hoping to be able to have a vacation back there again. Looking for friends or family that will be interested to soak in the sun and have an adventure. But years gone by and nobody came.

Then came march of 2007, when a couple of my friends suddenly asked if we want to go out of town, i then exclaimed... Boracay! Then they said, they will check with their schedule. I thought that would just be another plan... but no... this is for real.

The next thing i know, we are in a boat on the way to Boracay last April 11, 2007. I am so excited, thinking of the memories i had in that place. I wonder how much i has changed. What are the adventures we are going to accomplish and so on...

My trip to boracay is all worth it. First... The food. Although its much expensive nowadays compared to my first trip around 18 years ago, there are many variands and restaurants to choose from. We were able to eat in two restaurants during our stay. In the Lemon Cafe and in an Indian Restaurant. Both establishements serve a specialty of their own, and is expensive, but is all satisfying. The prices are just enough for the ambiance and quality of food they served. Every bite you will hear us "MMmmmmmm, this is good!" or "this is worht every penny we paid for" or "SSsssarappp!" which means 'delicious', there's nothing more to say.

I am afraid of heights.. oh no, i have to correct that, i'm terrified with heights! when they invited me to go parasailing, i can just go home and hide instead because i have never imagine doing that in my entire life. But my friends persuaded me, and one thing is for sure "I ENJOYED IT... A LOT!" My gosh, i never imagined myself enjoying that water sport, but surely, i will do it again! After that, we went to ride the banana boat ride, the speed and the adrenaline was just spectacular, just wish the boat went a little faster... haha! and then we went snorkling and island hopping... yes, that's life, and that's how we should spend it. Take time to pause from work and enjoy nature for a while. It's worth it!

And yes, i want to enjoy it to the maximum level. having my hair braided by local teenagers and have a henna tatoo at my back. for a corporate look, that would not be appropriate but is something i will never forget. It helped me released myself from stress and make me enjoy me for a change.

My experiences with Dusit Hotel Nikko

I used to remember when i pass by makati, i always see this big hotel wishing that someday i could go inside and take a peak of how wonderful and refreshing it would be to spend a night in Dusit.

My first visit inside the hotel was amazing. I was the choir conductor of my choir and they have performance in the hotel lobby as part of the hotel's treat to their customers during the holidays. We were assisted by the hotel staff, mostly interns, with our costumes, snacks, and dinner. The dressing room was ok. With a small tv that played cartoons to keep the children at ease and seated as they wait for their time to perform. The room was spacious, cool and comfortable enough for us to get dressed. My choir was able to perform twice in that hotel. The staff always greeted us with a warm smile.

We, the teachers, were given discount or membership cards for a year because of our first performance. 20%discount on weekday room rate and 10% discount on weekends. With this, I celebrated my 30th birthday in dusit. Renting a room for 3 days and 2 nights.
